AUDIOSLAVE's TOM MORELLO: 'We Are United In Our Rock Power'
October 14, 2002Former RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and current AUDIOSLAVE guitarist has admitted that the newly-formed supergroup had almost been called off due in part to Morello and the rest of his former RATM bandmates having a separate management deal from the band's frontman, ex-SOUNDGARDEN singer Chris Cornell.
"Well, there was a tremendous amount of drama and unnecessary conflict, which was generated by our managerial situation," Morello told Launch. "Timmy [Commerford, bass] and Brad [Wilk, drums] and I had a management company, and Chris had a separate manager, and there was not enough room in the picture for both of them, and it created an enormous amount of conflict, which for a while undermined the band's solidarity."
Once the management issue was settled, however, the quartet resumed work on the group's debut album and capitalized on the obvious chemistry that existed between them. "We couldn't be more united. [We have] a great deal of love and respect for each other, which we've had even during the Ozzfest period, and so (we) are united in our rock power and looking forward to taking it to the masses," he said.
AUDISLAVE's self-titled debut album is due on November 19th through Epic Records.
